Every potential homeowner is looking for a house that he would be happy to buy, that provides a good financial deal as well as all of the things on his list. Some people only want homes that are ready to live in, but these people may not be getting as good of a deal as they desire. 

There is one problem with a house that is ready for you to move in, and that is that the person who owns it already poured the money into it to make the upgrades. You would end up spending far less on the mortgage loan, so even the additional cost of adding in those things would not put you over the mortgage for the home that did not need work. This does create some work for you, but it is the best deal in a financial sense. 

Another thing to consider is that you may want to sell the home yourself. One that needs updates all over the place – the AC unit, the kitchen, the bathroom, and the like – means that you can invest in those things and massively increase the value of your house. You then just have to find a buyer who wants all of the newest updates but who does not want to do any work, and you can potentially sell your home for more than you paid. A house that needs work is really a house that has potential so that you can increase your equity over time.
